Kate Moss helps Sir Philip Green launch Topshop in NYC, April 2 2009

Kate Moss and Sir Philip Green have launched the first U.S. Topshop in New York – while perched on top of a pedestal and being sprinkled with confetti.

Their launch party included guests such as Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, James Blunt, Rosario Dawson, Blondie singer Debbie Harry, Agyness Deyn, Marc Jacobs and Vogue editor Anna Wintour

The odd couple officially opened the doors today to give the American public a chance to see the store which is the favourite of so many women in Britain.

The opening, at 11am New York time, also presented Kate’s own collection, her ninth for Topshop.

The New York store has 200 workers, 32 changing rooms, a DJ booth, and a shoe lounge, but has opened six months late after a series of problems, including construction delays and even flooding .

If the new Topshop proves a success Sir Philip plans to open a second store in Manhattan and eventually to expand to Miami, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Boston.

This Friday, we’ll be changing the theme and layout of our magazine. For the past few months, it has done quite well as a blog format but come this weekend it will be much more exciting and organized!!!

We ventured out to Lobby on Bloor Street West to support my dear friend –  fashion entrepreneur and the creative juices behind Dealers of The Purple Cloth – Lydia Nam, as she showcased her spring/summer ’09 collection during Toronto Fashion Week. Filled with vibrant colours and unmatched uniqueness, she gives “ghetto-fab” a whole new meaning!

We’re excited to interview her next week – but for now, here are some of the photos from the event!

We have been super busy here at WOT with Fashion Week in the air so the updates are a little infrequent but we promise to fill you in on the best and the worst as well as independent fashion shows (like Dealers of the Purple Cloth) as soon as we can! Tomorrow, we will be attending WOMEN X WOMEN, a networking event that will exhibit 20 incredibly talented WOMEN photographers and their work. We’re really looking forward to it!

We’re also super-psyched about finally finding someone chic enough to write for our “style” column! His name is Dag Larson and he’s a personal stylist who’s full of life, exquisite taste, and has a knack for interesting writing! We think you’ll absolutely LOVE him, just as we do!

On a much sadder note, we are deeply saddened by the recent news of Liam Neeson’s wife, Natasha Richardson, passing. We give our deepest condolences to him and his family in this difficult time.

Ladies, we’ve heard it all before. This book-turned-movie just reiterates what we all know deep down inside. It has a great cast, predictable storyline, and some corny jokes – the perfect chick flick. It even has a few parts that, if in the right mood, might have you shedding a few tears. You might even have some luck dragging your boyfriend to go see it with you – but only because they could probably relate to some of the “rules” and “exceptions” they mention in the movie.

We recommend this movie for a girls night, boy bashing session, or if you ever have 2 hours to kill.
